David France

Before becoming an actor, I spent many years as a showbiz journalist. I wrote under the name David Shannon and was drama critic for the Today newspaper and a regular contributor to Cosmopolitan magazine. Poacher turned gamekeeper or gamekeeper turned poacher? I'm still not sure...

So far, I've appeared in about 60 feature films, short films and corporates, including FISH OUT OF WATER which won a BAVA Best Drama Award at Bafta and a Meridian TV Best Drama Award, THE UNLUCKY MOTHER (Commonwealth Vision Award winner) and ADAMANT (IBLA Film Public Award winner).

As well as screen work, I do voiceovers and stage shows (plays, musical theatre and vaudeville), have sung with various live bands and run a corporate event company.

I am 6ft tall, exercise regularly, belong to Equity and am in The Spotlight. My home is in West London. These days I seem to get cast a lot as Pushy Executive, Cheating Husband, Evil Bastard or Middle Class Nice Guy.

As David Shannon, I co-wrote the musical When It Rains which was a Vivian Ellis Award prize winner.
